It's no secret that Afghanistan's location makes it an important place for many global powers, bordered by Iran on the west and Pakistan on the east. The country has very influential neighbors but how do all of those competing interests play out on the ground in Afghanistan and how are they affecting the war.

  • The next elections are going to be historical. Thanks to the Supreme Courts ruling and massive unrest of the masses its going to be VERY interesting. Can unlimited money really buy a president? Regardless of what the people want...we'll see. But yes, Petraeus would be a shoe in if there was another terror attack on US soil. The lemmings (lemons?Lol) will flock to a real general with combat experience beacause they will be scared shitless. MANY have predicted such an event and scenario.

Oh please, an American predicting derivative bubbles. You should stick to predicing the collapse of your housing bubble before exporting wishful non-thinking on to other economies. China can influence US policy, say in a war over Taiwan, or Taiwan armsales, Wikileaks have shown China has used bonds to prevent armsales of F16 to Taiwan.

the only oil route to China from Iran is through Straits of Mallaca near Singapore, which is the single most important choke point, since US navy can blocade it in the event of a war with China, thereby cutting off 80% of China's oil which passes through this choke point. China wants oil routes on land to bypass Mallaca, since it doesn't have naval dominance in the South China Sea yet.

  • isn't it easier for iran to send the oil on ships to china than building expensive piplelines through north pakistan to china in a region full of mountains? doesn't make sense to me

  • Mr Tarpley, as we have seen now bin laden was in pakistan, al qaeda was in pakistan, general petraeus is head of CIA and has no interest in presidency, what do you have to say now? you have some weird theories and i bet you come with a conspiracy that it was not bin laden who has been killed in pakistan ... whatever, it's fun to see all the former political predictions which never came true

  • HANNIBALbengal i really agree with you

  • i saw this coming 30years ago

  • As far I have researched-The Zeitgeist Movement is the only Group out there that has brought up some Real and Tangible Solutions to ACTUALLY SOLVE OUR ECONOMICAL, SOCIAL & ECOLOGICAL CRISIS - watch "Awakening 1/4" (short video) and "Zeitgeist Addendum" to know more about it. Both of them are on YouTube. The SOLUTIONS presented in both videos are already being applied and they have already been proved to work in the short and long run. It's about time to expand/spread it World Wide.

    :)

  • @joel1923 If China's was in control, they'd have dumped US bonds long ago. The world is ruled by global banking elites who don't have any particular national ties, and they don't need armies to do it. They run the world via the global market with financial instruments of mass destruction. They've integrated the global markets via quadrillion dollar derivatives. Thus when one economy goes down, they all go down. China knows this. They have a derivative bubble of their own to worry about.
