  • We are already in an advance lesson, though, I wanna ask few questions regarding the devanagari... I noticed that da, dha, na, ta, tha can be written in two ways. Which of the two is commonly used? Does it make any difference if I will be using the other way when writing "NA" in NAMASTE... thanks a lot...

  • @skydipper1712 Hi, I think there is only one way to write things. It depends on which sound you want to write. For example "na" in "namaste" will always be the same "na". नमस्ते will always start with न. द and ध are different characters used for two different sounds. It is important to learn to differentiate between "da" , "dha", "Da" and "Dha". I mean there should no be confusion as there never are two ways of writing the same sound. There are only different sounds written differently.

  • Namaste. How much do speakers use shubh ratree, suprabhaat etc? After reading Rupert Snells Hindi bookd he makes these sound like awkward foreign influenced phrases that 'real' Hindi speakers don't use. Are they common enough or on the rise?

  • @nagagaruda Namaste! Usually Indians use English phrases in their daily talk, but some use Hindi ones, especially in the rural areas. Although today's Hindi has about 30% of English in it, it is always a good idea to know the original Hindi expressions too.

  • im totally infatuated by a girl whos indian asian, and im learning this launguage, i never liked it before, i used to poke fun and do the indian accent but now i think its so beautiful!

  • @shinznay Wow! Congrats! I think this is an important achievement in becoming more broad-minded! :)

  • @CrazyLassi, thanks for that clarification... maybe the lesson that i've had was trying to emphasize on "na" and "Na" that is why I got confused... actually the mentor mentioned "there are two ways to write "t", "th", "d", "dh", and "n"... that's when I got confused... but it's clear to me now... thanks a lot...
