GREG MAY of Orlando, FL says: "Dear EditorBPress: That storyline you mentioned involved spies. The viewers wrote in to the producer that they did not like the storyline so they changed it. I seem to remember that they had sent Mike Karr down to Mexico during an investigation. 'The Edge of Night' reached its zenith in daytime popularity and ratings with the storyline where Scofield Kilborne had Phil Capice kidnapped and John Lambert underwent plastic surgery to impersonate Phil".

I remember CLAYBANK, Laura fleeing from the police and her car tumbling down the cliff, catching fire, killing her. I also remember Orin's beautiful daughter Liz, with the PERFECT smile ! I got bad vibes from Orin's over=protective nature towards Liz, just like Palm Courtland on ALL MY CHILDREN, obsessed over his frail daughter Nina.

Actually, this is a question rather than a comment. I seem to remember a story arc from the late 50s or early 60s that was built around some type of Communist plot taking shape. As I recall, too, a woman was the ringleader of the plot. Have I simply imagined something--or did it actually take place?

@piqueroi These early Edge stories are greater than what soaps (which I cannot watch anymore) are like now. You're a gem. No wonder Edge of Night was so loved back then. Thanks for all this information.

After Mike Karr proved Teresa Vetter had framed Judy Marceau for murder, he went to Capitol City in 1961. Phil and Louise Capice returned to Monticello. Philanthropist Casey Reno winning their trust arranged for them to adopt a baby. Casey was ordered by Scofield Kilbourne to get Phil to take over an import facility, unknowingly bringing dope to Monticello. Scofield had been jailed for embezzlement by Grimsley years ago and swore vengeance by destroying his family.
When Mike Karr returned to defend Louise for the phony murder of Phil, John Larkin had been replaced by Laurence Hugo who'd played Aunt Cornelia's gigilo on Search for Tomorrow in the late '50's.

@piqueroi As always I enjoy your comments/tidbits I never knew about Edge cast members.
Hugo was my introduction to Edge. He was so great in the role of Mike Karr, esp. during the time Laurie Ann got kidnapped by the syndicate and Mike Karr was driven to the brink of being the syndicate's puppet.
It was that storyline that made me an Edge fan for life.
