This is my trip to Holy Hill. I took all these pictures. I wish I would've taken more because there is more to see at Holy Hill, including the inside of the church where Mass is held. I have more pics than what I have in this video but then the video would've been even longer. And some of the other pics are somewhat the same anyway. :)

I really love the outdoor stations of the cross.
I don't remember whether I took a picture of the 12th station. I did not have it in my memory card in my camera so I guessed I missed it. I have no idea how that happened.
But I did not want to just skip it in the order of the stations of the cross. So I just added a traditional picture of the 12th station so that you can know which one it is in case you are not familiar with the Stations of the Cross.

Holy Hill is located in southeast Wisconsin, on the highest elevation in that part of the state. Situated on 435 acres of rural countryside, it provides the visitor with the opportunity for spiritual enrichment. We often hear visitors remark about the peace, beauty and serenity they find at Holy Hill.

As early as 1903, Holy Hill was declared a Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians. In 2006, the Shrine was raised to the status of Minor Basilica. But as far back as the 1700s and perhaps earlier, the Americans Indians came to Holy Hill because they considered it a sacred place.

Many come to Holy Hill as "tourists", only to find that they have been touched by something deeper than natural beauty or curiosity. We know that God is truly present on this Holy Hill, and we invite you to come and share with us this Presence!

  • may i know the Tittle of the chant???? PLs. Thnx

  • Veni, Creator Spiritus

  • GOD said: "You shall not make for yourself an idol".

That means literally you shall not make for yourself an idol.

And about worshiping Mary or that Pope guy, GOD also said: "I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me."

  • We have statues & images as holy reminders of God and of His Saints. He made them holy. We do not worship those statues.

Before that verse God says, you shall have no other gods before me. After that verse He says, you shall not bow down to them or worship them. So you have to take into consideration those passages to get the real meaning of the passage you mentioned. If God just didn't want us to make statues, He would not have commanded Moses to make them.

  • Just to clarify on my previous comment;

God made the Saints holy. He did not make the statues holy. But many times statues & images could be blessed by priests. I have statues & images which have been blessed by priests.

  • Oh, and we do NOT worship Mary. We do NOT worship the Pope, our Holy Father and Vicar of Christ here on earth.

    We only worship God!

  • @00070707000 From the cross Jesus told John to take Mary into his home and take care of her as if she was his own mother. John 19:26-27 "All generations will call me blessed" Luke 1:48

  • @00070707000 As to the Pope, the Successor of Peter the first Pope, it was Christ himself that gave him the authority this is Apostolic Succession. "Though art Peter and Upon this Rock I shall build my Church" - Matt 16:18 Need help understanding this Google Peter + Early Church Fathers. Once again, in Christ's words we honor Mary as the Mother of God. Do u not think that your mother is special?

  • @00070707000 Just found this video and saw your statement. You have received a good answer but I want to add a bit. Before the Bible was printed by Gutenberg, it was extremely expensive to buy a hand written one done by monks. So, to tell the story of Christ many statues were made by artisans, or paintings, as the Sistine Chapel were drawn to tell Christ's Story.

Consider this: John 19:26-27 Jesus saw his own mother, and the disciple standing near whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son". Then he said to the disciple, "Behold your mother". And from that hour, he took his mother into his family.

Jesus entrusts Mary, his mother, into the care of a disciple.

  • @00070707000 Why the statues, stained glass windows, etc. Prior to everyone in the world becoming proficient in reading or even capable of owning a Bible, various Theology was taught using these items.

Do you love your Mother? Does she have a special place in your heart? The same with Mary, chosen by God to give birth to & raise the Son of God from birth.

  • I Live in Milwakee which is maybe about a 30 to 40 minute drive from Holy Hill. It is truely a beautiful Basilica and a very important shrine for the people here. Thanks for putting up the video.

  • Both my uncles are buried here. Thanks for sharing.

  • We take our family here for the 9:30 mass almost every year at the peak of autumn. It is a such a beautiful church. I have also ridden my motorcycle here numerous times and have seen many others do so as well. The "hill" proclaims the good news over the whole countryside. The draw to this place is amazing. I bet even the ACLUers come here on their day off!!
