  • Wow! The 4/3rds lenses are considerably smaller than 35mm lenses. The 300mm 4/3rds lens is equivalent of 600mm lens on 35mm camera. The Olympus lenses are really compact. Interesting format the 4/3rds really is.

  • The 90-250 and 300 are definitely Olympus original designs, they have nothing in common to sigma lenses of the same reach and speed and are manufactured by Olympus.

The 70-300 on the other hand shares resemblance to Sigma lenses, most notably the AF/MF switch on the lens barrel that no other Olympus lens has.

  • big bazoooka ! oh yes ! ericlefrancais..com

  • @TheeAdemCigerci The 70-300 doesnt have the IQ to be combined with a 2x TC. The 70-300 needs to be stepped down to at least F7,1 or better yet, F8 or F9 to deliver good IQ. At F8 it really does produced good images considering the cheap price, but there is still room for improvement. I own the lens myself. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 50-200 with 2x TC.

The 70-300 with 2x TC would have F11 at 600mm which would probably deactivate the AF. I really wouldnt recommend it.

  • its so annoying, i was thinking of a Sigma 50-500mm but found they stopped making them in 4/3rds (and i cant find any second hand). I cant find any 3rd party lens manufacturer for my olympus e-620... which has left me of thinking of getting the Olympus 70-300mm with the EC-20 (2x teleconvertor). As i cant afford there top range £1000 ish lenses, which is a shame because i wanted an original and true supertelephoto lens from the start... ahhhhhhhhh

  • i want that 150mm tuna :)

  • i got the 70-300mm for about 1 year now. i love working with it. the good point is that the minimal focus distance is less then 1 meter so even if your subject appear near you (like a bird) you wont need to move to take a good shoot . then again i never try the other lense exept for the 50-200 but they look too big to be carry everywhere easyly ^^

  • No Olympus lenses are manufactured by Sigma.

  • Pretty sure the 300/2.8 and 90-250/2.8 are Olympus designs. But the 70-300/5.6 is poached from Sigma (which doesn't make it bad, it's pretty good for $250)

  • I believe the 300mm f/2.8 and 90-250 f/2.8 lenses may be actually manufactured by Sigma and then brandend by Olympus.
