Why Feminism Dropped The ERA

Feminism was all about the ERA. Rights shall not be abridged on the basis of sex?

Then, when it was on the verge of passing, the leadership dropped the pursuit of it. Why?
One year they were out marching, the next they were abandoning equal rights in droves.
Not only would the ERA have made inequality much harder to maintain.
If equality is enshrined in the law, why do you need a movement like NOW, the National Organization of Women?
When you have the law on your side, you don't need a movement. The feminist movement would've been maginalized, a victim of its own success. By this time, it was run by paid professionals like Gloria Stienem. And equality under the law would've killed their organization.

At the time, someone named Phyllis Shlaffley wrote...men carry burdens and have extra responsabilities. If this thing passes...
Men could band together and form class action suits over things like custody.
Men could demand that women be drafted.
Men could demand equal representation in the prison system.

Funny thing about equality. Real equality doesn't exist but theory. Math is really the only place.
Even replaceable parts aren't exactly equal. Screws are interchangeable, but they're not identical.

I sensed someone was missing from the welcoming committee.

When feministing quit youTube (they got beaten off, I might add LOL) I ran out of material.

I needed those yammering imbeciles. I can't just go after anyone. I need to attack some semblance of a structure, an organization.

The only feminists left on youTube are amateurs. I don't feel right beating up on amateurs.

But if a group of feminists ever rears its ugly head here again, I'll be on them like white on rice.

OMFG! What an excellent video!! I remember learning about the ERA in college when I learned all that feminism BS. But no mention was made of Schlafly or why it never passed. I had absolutely no clue, it was before my time. To me this is the smoking gun that reveals the true motivations of the "professional feminists".

The ERA would strike down laws like VAWA and put women in combat. Women have so many privileges today that it would be contradictory for them to support the ERA.

Feminism isn't about equal rights, forget it, it's about privileges for women under law. They want privileges, no matter for what reason, they just want them, period. If they can convince you by any reasoning, fine. They'll get what they want, and you don't care (until your interest collides with that of a woman, in which case you may regret your past decision, but then it'll be too late)

What's really sad is that Schlafly was the fallgirl for the ERA. Feminists blame her for killing it singlehandedly. Yet the reason she was against it was because it would've ended female privilege!

I don't understand one thing. Didn't women already have equal rights before the "2nd wave" of feminism? I thought the 2nd and 3rd waves were just meant to bag more and more privileges for women.

@TheEditorialist Fair enough. But if you want to see good "beatings up' of feminists in all their double standards and hypocritical glory the Spearhead is rocking. They just put up a piece on a woman sentenced to life for having a 13 year old boy fondle her breasts. The women are all shocked and bawling while the guys are saying "how'd you like equality? guys get life just for looking these days". I'd never even heard of The Spearhead before but they really get stuck in.

@TheEditorialist I'm not sure if the e.r.a would be any different then what we have now,but if it was. It would be nice to be on a level playing field! In this gender war,I'm an M.R.A & will have to say that your video's opened my eyes to feminism along with a few others. Back in the old days when feministing dominated youtube & with in only a few years,m.r.a's are now outnumbering feminist on youtube. Weve come along way!
