He never said that "those who believe in Allah and a prophet named muhammad to come will be spared." The quran states much about the Torah and Injeel because these books were already with us before the quran. The Torah foretells Jesus's coming. The Injeel and Jesus's life backs up the Torah. Is Allah a weak God that he needs the help of mere man? He must be, since muslims claim that the Torah and Injeel are corrupted, but the quran is not. Surah 3, Ayat 31: "If ye do love Allah, Follow me (Muhammad): Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

Surah Baqara, Ayat 226: "...if then they return, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful"

Surah 19, Ayat 96:On those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, will (Allah)Most Gracious bestow love."
