What kind of stain are you using in this video? Also, you say you're using the "same basic technique as I showed with the stain earlier." Which clip is that? It would be really helpful if these clips were numbered, so we beginners can follow the steps in order.

Go with either minwax, but it's sometimes difficult to find the minwax water based-stain, or go to The Home Depot, they use Behr.
I do find it better to use a water based pre-stain prior to staing bare wood, it just leaves a more even finsh. When you are done, finish it with a water based poly-urethane.
