This is my review of the San Francisco Giants Pablo Sandoval Bobblehead that was given away on Saturday, April 24th, 2010.

Giveaway Notes:

Most giveaways start when the gates open two hours before game time.
But for every Orange Friday night, the gates open 3 hrs early!
(so you can watch the Giants take batting practice too)

It takes about an hour to distribute 20,000 bobbleheads.
The Willie Mays gate always has more of them than any other.
But more people go there so the line is longer.
(The security bag check is a lot slower there too)

The King Street gate picks up far too much walk-up traffic as other people cut in line to join their friends and the entrance is narrow, so the line is naturally slower.

The Marina gate no longer distributes bobbleheads.

My trick is to use the Lefty O'Doul plaza entrance.
The line for it along McCovey Cove is much shorter than
the line for Willie Mays plaza across the bridge.

Best to have multiple friends in different lines and use cell phones
to determine which line is moving fastest. Start to panic if 45 minutes
have passed since the gates opened. Maybe time to change lines?

One last trick is to befriend fans of the visiting team already in line.
They won't want one, but they'll grab one for you for about $10 bucks.

Good Luck!

  • Wednesday June 2nd 7:15pm Rockies

Girls Softball Night - Jennie Finch Bobblehead

special event ticket is required to get this one.

Can only buy this ticket at the ballpark at this point.

  • Correction - there are 17 bobbleheads this season!!!

See my blog for the full list. Jennie finch would be 18.

  • Thanks for another review, gonna be some crazy trading going on to complete the 2010 set (closer to 15 bobbles with all the events)

  • Hi Jim, no kidding. I'm starting to lose count of how many there are. Plus the Giants love adding surprise bobbleheads at the end of the season too.

  • On defense, the Giants have used him as a starting third baseman, first baseman, and, for a short period, as a catcher for pitcher Barry Zito, who gave Sandoval the nickname Kung Fu Panda. He received the nickname after a play on September 19, 2008, where he scored a run against the Los Angeles Dodgers by jumping over the tag of catcher Danny Ardoin, scoring from second base on a single by Bengie Molina.
