BYU had such a terrible defense that year. Allowed 35 vs Tulane, 31 vs UNLV, 34 vs Utah State, 33 vs Air Force, 34 vs Colorado State, 34 vs Wyoming, 38 vs Mississippi State, 72 vs Hawaii, and then 28 vs Louisville. Good thing we had an offense who was averaging nearly 50 per game. We still hung 45 on Hawaii with our backup QB playing.

I still remember this game. I think BYU was ranked 2 in the nation and Hawaii was not ranked and this was the last game of the regular season for Hawaii. From the very first play Hawaii set the pace and the atmosphere in the stadium was unreal, no one was sitting from young to elderly. Everyone was just "Hi-Fiving" strangers and what Hawaii did was just amazing and just a flat out great rivalry game. I hope more games like this await Hawaii.
