what this generation of serialists were trying to do was to organize atonality in some manner, but the result is totally opposite. Process of composing is far from listening to your musical ideas and is based on abstract mathematical calculations, no wonder the system didn't continue to exist very long. The idea of this music is similar to chance music, we theoretically calculate first and then see what happens, and sometimes the outcome is not bad, since sometimes good things happen by chance.

Wow, I am really starting to discover some music by Stockhausen that is very agreeable with me! I love the brief analytic bits in the notes, not that I disagree or anything but I was curious: were these extracted from Stockhausen's own explanations, or through the analysis of you/someone else?

@omgtkseth LOL, isn't it funny how someone can be willing to accept new and extraordinary forms of music but be so short-sighted about race?

@Derneuerradikaler Oh... I'm not a racist. I pretend to be. My ethnicity is actually below black's, in most people's eyes...
1. who performed this?
2. I have a recording of this by Bruno Maderna, the tempo of which is noticeably quicker, and some of the articulations, particularly how they overlap, are different.
