Great idea, thank you!

@gardenangels47 I use a small piece of tape and write the hook size on it. Since you don't use the tail end of the hook it's a great spot for it. hope this helps.

but why would you want to do this? i use them like they are and i have no problem with them. i guess its something you all find that helps you. i rather not.

Or you can buy Vet Wrap for 100 times cheaper from Tractor Supply (or whatever farm/animal related shop you have near you). Plus Vet Wrap comes in pretty colors <3
You can check it out if you go to Smart Pak Equine dot com and search for 3M Vet Wrap (it wouldn't let me post the link).

It's also called "Vet Wrap" if you can't find it under secure elastic wrap.

@elsiephysio It is great to hear all the different names it is known as and will make it easier for people to find it in their community.

Thank you. This will certainly help. Shame there isn't a way to identify the size of the hook with these on so we won't have to continue to take them off if we are uncertain about the crochet hook size. I wonder if color coding them would help? I do a lot of thread crochet and this will help with that but I also find the hook length of the steel hooks will hit me in the palm of my hand. Would like to find a way to lengthen them. Any ideas?

@gardenangels47 You could take a permanent marker and write the size on your gel grip

It is nice of you to give some ideas....I'm noticing that when I crochet alot...my wrist tends to hurt...you think this will help?

@jvfeline It could help your wrist. Sometimes pain is a result of the repetitive motion and holding the hook to tight.
