This tutorial will show you the right way how to freeze or stop a video in Sony Vegas Pro 11. We use the velocity envelope within Vegas Pro to maintain the highest quality (vs. the snapshot tool, the least effective way.) With the velocity envelope, you can also speed, reverse, and slow videos within Vegas Pro.

  • Hey Aquul could you slow down the velocity for a slow-mo effect or would using the actual slow-mo be better?

  • Hi @MCiLuZiioNz - you could also use the Velocity Envelope to perform a slow motion effect. Doing it with the envelope, you have a lot more control over the speed at which the slow motion is. You can make it go fast motion, and then slow motion, (change speed easily). However, if you were to simply press CTRL + CLICK at the end of an event in the timeline, and drag inwards making it smaller, you don't have as much control.

  • I just discovered your channel, and it's amazing! I do have one question though, how did you create those banners starting at 4:07 where it says "please like and comment"? I want to know how you made those, and also how you made it animate with that glowing flare, how did you make it transparent and also the transitioning animation. Do you have a video on this already? I would love to know!

  • Thanks @nelsono415! The banner at 4:07 was made in Sony Vegas, with the exception of the lens flare which was made in Adobe After Effects. I currently don't have a tutorial up on how to make that, but I have had it suggested a few times so I may make one soon. Be sure to subscribe to be notified of new videos! :)

  • Thanks

I'm wondering is this envelope only in Vegas pro?I don't see it in studio plat.

  • Hi @mixxfish, the Velocity envelope is only available in professional versions of Sony Vegas. Movie Studio versions don't have this feature.
