Greek islands: Authentic cooking in Crete mountains.

In West Crete - 30 minutes from the famous Elafonisi Beach - lies the mountain village Amigdalokefali. Here is a new taverna called Meltemi, serving very good traditional greek food, made by owner Natasha and her mother Tania.
They make standards like souvlaki and moussaka, and local cretan dishes with goats meat, from the goats Natashas husband Jorgos raises. They roam free in the mountains and as such, is of a very fine quality. In the mountains also grows the 100 years old vines, that owner Jorgos makes wine from. This is not for everyone, you have to negotiate a bit to have a taste.
