this is a lie. the insurance agencies offered to inc your cost only a few trillion a year. for 15 years. they are so nice and thoughtful

Except that advocates for a single payer system, the most cost effective for tax payers, were not even allowed to sit at the table to talk about the benefits, while our senators laughed about it on our tax dollars.

Isn't it sort of the point that sick people who might die go to hospital?

Tort reform is a Republican ruse... lawsuits account for approximately 1% of total health care costs. The AMA and State laws governing lawsuits have insulated doctors and hospitals against so-called "frivolous" lawsuits. In some states, one must have five doctors that support a claim of malpractice to bring a physician to court. Don't buy into the tort scheme that was designed to stop health care reform.
-
There also have to be caps on medical liability... virtually no doctor can personally afford the liability insurance and/or the legal costs of defending him- or herself... that's one reason doctors give for abandoning private practice.

Single payer is the only answer. Anything else is just a starting point. Insurance companies profit off the pain of the insured and should be put out of business.

Single Payer NOW
30% to 50% of the health care expenses happen in the last 6 months of anyones life! I want to see how Obama is going to address that issue.

It's the insurance companies that are jacking up the prices. It's similar to GM making cars nobody wants to buy since the fuel efficiency is lousy, just to keep oil sales up. Insurance companies are driving up the cost of procedures and tests just to make a bigger profit.
"The Nickerson family in Alfred is furious over a $912 hospital bill from Southern Maine Medical Center for a two-hour ER visit in which their 5-year-old son Travis received only a band-aid."
