ReGENERATION :: A Documentary Film

ReGENERATION, the documentary film featuring and scored in full by STS9, premiers May 24th at the Seattle International Film Festival. Narrated by Academy Award Nominated actor Ryan Gosling, ReGENERATION features some of our countrys leading scholars, social activists, and media personalities, including Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Talib Kweli among a slew of others.

Beyond the labels of Generation X and Generation Y, the feature documentary film, ReGeneration, takes an uncompromising look at the issues facing todays youth and young adults, exploring the widespread cynicism and the influences that perpetuate our cultures apathetic approach to social and political causes.

The film features three intersecting stories of students, parents, and artists all looking for their place in society. Together they capture the thoughts and feelings of todays struggling generation as some of the worlds leading scholars, activists, and media personalities provide their insight into the ideas and movements that can inspire change.

This is the story of todays generation. This is the story of us.

Eenngf... I wouldn't call it apathy... I'd call it this giant sack of boulders the generations before decided to toss onto my back and repeatedly tell me "It's not so bad, we had to deal with much worse!" and after they raised us to believe things would only get better. I'm just tired now, and all I want is to exist. I want to make just enough money to live and somehow that's not working.

This is not a generation issue but a society issue. Consumerism is what propels people this day and age in the mighty USA. DISTRACTIONS and as long as we are, the predators can continue eating up our youth for prey at such tender age doesn't know better. DISTRACTIONS, like electronics, materialism and drug use. all rampant and easily available as bait that works and they fall and the predators rejoice.

I think that the book Generations by William Strauss and Neil Howe would offer a lot of answers to questions posed by this video. Also the book Generation We by Eric Greenberg and Karl Weber outlines ways for This current generation to communicate and advocate for change.
