Two weeks after the Haitian earthquake, a team of New Orleans' tech/creative community gathered to use open source technology to create tools that first responders, non-governmental organizations and governments could use in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. The event was called CrisisCampNola and similar meet ups happened around the world. Throughout the day, 11 members of the Haitian New Orleanian community came by to say hello and help with the projects.

We asked the 11 Haitian New Orleanians to film messages to their loved ones back home.

There are stories of heartache. Yves Dejean, a New Orleanian who was visiting Haiti at the time of the earthquake, told about courage, heartache and the grim reality of watching a child die.

And there are messages of hope and faith.

"Dear Haiti, a love note" was made possible because of the following members of the Haitian New Orleanian community:

Hector Louise Jeune and daughter Christelle
Gabriel Wilcinot
Samuel Wilcinot
Rosette Laguerre
Marginique Louis
Oland Laguerre
Yves Dejean and daughter Marissa
Youseline Lazarre and son Brendan Meniere

We thank everyone in advance for carrying these messages of hope and love with them as they journey through the day to days of every day life.
