Can you do it in slow motion? I don't understand how to sling is capturing the wool.

You are so absolutely beautiful! Thanks for doing this video and showing your talents.

Can you tell me what music is playing in the background?

Dear Dream Spinner~ I could watch you all day long :) The more I read about the art of spinning the more I find to do ;)
Right now that is a single treadle Ashford, and a home made turkish drop spindle. Your sling blade is next:) Great video!

Wanted to add that this video shows an early prototype model. Current ©Sling-Blades come with thicker 1/2" diam. oak handles & permanently attached wooden "cap". The Blade no longer has that odd-looking short end to it either. Just made it faster - easier & even more fun to spin painlessly for hours & hours! The faster you SLING the BLADE - the EASIER & less work it becomes - because the spin action feeds upon itself by simple Laws of INERTIA. Enjoy!

The "Blade" doesn't capture the fiber. Going round & round each time puts ONE "twist" into the fibers. The faster you SLING the "Blade" in tiny circular motions - the FASTER you spin TWIST into the the fiber- making it hold onto itself by compressing & knitting the twisted fibers into yarn. MORE twist = TIGHTER spun yarn - LESS Twist = mean softer airier yarn.I STOP slinging the BLADE when I have ENOUGH twist in that yard or so of yarn. Wind it on the Blade & Spin more fiber into yarn. SIMPLE !

It is by his kind permission - "The Selkie" as performed by Aryeh Frankfurter - aka - "LionHarp Music" & now also performing with partner Celtic Harpist, Lisa Lynne Franco together as - "Two Worlds One" - Google BOTH of them - You won't be disappointed!

I just bought one of these a couple weeks ago. This lady is a genius, I love this invention. She is so right it is so easy and way less stressful for me than drop spindles. I can't say enough good things about it. I am so happy I stumbled across it.

THANK EWE so MUCH for this response!!! I couldn't BUY happy praises like yours! I've made it even EASIER to USE now TOO! NEW ©Sling-Blades come with permanently attached oak Caps, 1/2" dia, THICKER Oak Handles & more substantial - 100% LEXAN polycarbonate "blades". - vs. plexi-glass.
Happy ©Sling-Blading & THANK YOU again! Teri
