    Everything is being automated with RR's. If it wasn't a major route then it would be better to have a automated system. The less amout of traffic the less the need of a person to be their all the time. I do think the bridge should of been eather replaced or had a better eye kept on it. But it's a Shared assets line sho good luck getting CSX and NS to agree(Conrail was split between CSX and NS in 1999/2000)

    For years and years an old man open and closed that old train bridge, I guess Conrail changed the operation of the bridge.

    Or just because the approach is in a swamp! Some of the worst chemicals on earth cross that bridge...maintenance and inspection should of been daily

    Should of kept a man at the bridge at all times... stray signal could cause interference or a list of problems could happen with an automated system...

    The bridge opened after he entered his code and then as he got closer it finally received and opened while the train was on the bridge...

    Who knows but i used to work on the tracks in south jersey and the track is the worst line in nj...other than southern rr..lol
