  • Merci de votre observation, mais je suis désolé, mais mon français est très limitée.

  • Thank you for your kind words.

  • this would be fine if every image you want to isolate has a totaaly white background....what about images that are complex?

  • @Citizen259 If you find an answer to that let me know. All I do is either spend a lot of time erasing background with a very small brush, or cutting off the loose hairs and then putting them back in again using the push tool.

  • I have followed everything up till 6:12, how do you get the picture to go on the background?

  • select your layer pallet, LMB and hold the layer you want and drag it to the picture you want to add it to. When the mouse icon turns to a + sign release the LMB.

  • This narrator does a terrible job. His voice is not clear. He jumps around so much he is hard to follow. It is not at clear what he is trying to do or how he is doing it. The images flop around so much one cannot tell what he really doing.

  • merci pour cette aide serai t il possible d'avoir une traduction en français

    cela serai génial

  • Thank You so much for this tutorial !! I have been trying to find a good way to isolate and not lost detail such as hair with little to no success and this is exactly what I needed !! I have just purchased PSP and have so much to learn !! LOL Thank you this was easy to folllow and you explained every step as you did it and not in fast forward as with some tut's !! Great vid !! ......Cyn :O)

  • This guy has a great sense of humor.

  • There is no hard and fast rule about contrast, all you have to remember with masks is the light switch rule . If the light is on (white) you can see it, if the light is off (black) you cannot see it. If it low light (grey) you can make it out. So if you want the edges to soften use a soft bush at the edges which is nothing more than a gradient going black to white or white to black.

  • Hey! I love this video and go back to it often. I was just wondering if there's a hard and fast rule to determine what the right contrast is. Is high contrast better or should we go for a more even contrast, etc? Thanks!:)

  • Yay! It worked! I had tried this once before and messed up somehow, but I just tried it again and it worked beautifully! Thanks.:)

  • Thanks for the tip but as you say "sometimes it helps". I have never really found that matting is that successful so very rarely use it myself. That`s not to say that it doesn`t work and I thank you for pointing it out.

  • Sorry to be so late in replying but I am not sure where you are going wrong. Make sure that the foreground is black and the background is white on the paintbrush. Turn up the opacity to 100 and make sure the blend mode on the top tool bar is turned to overlay. By using the left mouse button (black) over the grey areas will turn them black. If you still have trouble I will post a short tutorial on for you on this subject.

  • I am having the same problem, even on overlay it just paints the whole layer not just the person. What are the other settings for Size, hardness, step, density, thickness rotation opacity stroke (continuous or not, wet look paint or not ) ? Thanks very much.

  • I gave it a rating of 5 stars.

One tip for that little white around the figure

    image, try using layer/matting/remove white.

    Sometimes it helps.

    Other then that great tutorial.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! I have been struggling with cutting someone out of a picture without making the hair look choppy. What a simple, useful solution! You just saved me hours of work!

I hope to see more tutorials from you!!

  • select the paint brush and in the tool bar where you change the size of the bush you will see the word "normal". open the drop down menu and change this to "overlay" then the brush will darken the dark areas only.

  • When blacking out the body, what is causing your brush to stay within the body lines and not blacking out the background area also. Following these instructions my brush just paints everything black. I am using PSP X

  • Thank you so much! Excellent Tutorial! Your presentation was above all others, nice and easy to follow. Well done!! Again Thank You for taking the time to share your experience,

  • Thank you for these kind words. I wish I had other lessons to past on but looking at other tutorial on this site most of what I know has already been covered one way or another. I am pleased however that this tutorial has been a help to others like yourself.

  • An excellent tutorial of an advanced technique I haven't seen before. You explained it very well and paced your instruction so it could be followed. Many of the posters could learn from this post on the correct format for a tutorial, not just showing off their skills but providing instruction so others can learn from them. Thank you

  • Thankyou very much for your comment. I don`t think I know anything more than you do having looked at your tutorials, but it`s always good to share with others. After all that`s how I learnt.
