This is a brief tour of our Haunted House for 2010, which we set up in our garage for the third year running! We took this video on our opening weekend (the week before Halloween).
This year we built the Pepper's Ghost illusion out front, behind the talking skull—and synced it to the lightning! We bought the talking skull this year, and had so much fun writing lines for it that we wrote the dialog between the witch and scientist, too. You can hear them bickering throughout the entire haunt. We also tried our hand at some prop triggers (attacking Sleestak and black lights in the spider room), though nothing too fancy.
We re-purposed a lot of old stuff, especially costumes and masks: the Sleestak, the fire demon, the heads on the stakes, and the marquis' ghost are all old costumes put to new uses.
Our visitors over the first weekend seem to like The Well of Lost Souls and the attacking Sleestak the best. Our favorites are the talking skull and the marquis/Pepper's ghost. Some people don't even see the ghost!
We have a longer "behind the scenes" video for 2010, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-AOSyluJK8

@MrLilyogi Yeah.. we usually spend about 100 hours each on Halloween each year, spread out over a couple of months. This year the MadSci2000 took up a lot of time, as did a Halloween Murder Mystery I'm working on. But it's all fun, and we're generally proud of the results.

@NathanGolden1 Pepper's ghost is awesome—it was fun to do. Ours was apparently kind of subtle because the light was linked to the thunder. A lot of people didn't even see it until we pointed it out to them.

I like your Haunted House banner at the beginning of your video! I want to replace mine with a larger one like you have. Do you remember where you had it made? Nice job on your home haunt btw!

@mrsakgrizzly Thanks! "Banners on the Cheap" - we are pretty happy with. It's strong and looks good!
