Hi there Micky Bitsco "On The Ground"
in Snyder Texas checking things out.

From hide town to boom town, Snyder
has lead the state in all kinds of energies,
from the oil comeback all the way through
to the emergence wind and solar today.

You can't help but be impressed.

Not bad considering Snyder's humble
beginnings back in the eighteen
seventies as a buffalo hide trading post.

That was way back when Pete Snyder
did his business on the banks of Deep
Creek.

Some say he still sits there in the shade
keeping an eye on things. lo I'm not sure
about that.

Snyder is a little off the beaten path
about an hour or so south of Lubbock,
depending on how fast you're driving.

Its got a certain "out of the way" charm
most days, with friendly people every-
where, you can't help but find a little
corner for yourself.

Perfect for students.

There's not much bad one can say about
the place, you gotta love the Snyder Tigers.
A great bunch of kids, (most of them...lol).

Some stay here and attend Western Texas
College, then later transfer to the University
of Texas in Austin.

Western is a good way to save some money
before moving on. Not to mention, "It's also
right next to a golf course!"

"if that's not distracting enough!"

Me personally, I'd like to hit the golf course
when the weathers nice, with some bowling
in the evenings, then maybe kick back and
catch a movie on friday night.

A little interesting history you can google,
or if you get a chance, just ask an old timer
about the Johnson-Sims feud.

Doesn't get anymore Texas than that, or a
least it makes for a great story while you're
picnicking at the park down by the water
with some home made sandwiches from
the store.

If you find yourself here on business I think
there's few good places to stay the night,
maybe get something to eat.

If you have any ideas for me, let me know.

I'd like an opportunity to write more good
stuff about Snyder TX in the future!

Till Then this is Micky Bitsco looking for
the next thing.

"catch you then folks"

"Snyder is a city in and the county seat of Scurry County, Texas, United States. The population was 10,783 at the 2000 census. It is located on Deep Creek, a minor tributary of the Colorado River of Texas. Snyder is approximately ninety-three miles southeast of Lubbock.

Located in Snyder is the Scurry County Coliseum, a large meeting hall which hosts area events. Now known only as "The Coliseum," the structure has since 2008 been operated by Western Texas College. Outside the Coliseum is a locomotive engine and a small restored historic village."
