Aikido, Stick v.s. Boxing

This is a video we made for fun one afternoon. I think it nicely illustrates how the added reach of the club changes the boxing paradigm quite a lot. The added reach of the stick gives the wielder more time and space to use Aiki movements. You can see several irimi and irimi-tenkan movements in this quick clip. These movements are made possible by the added space and time afforded by the stick. With a short stick you can see what a disadvantage the boxer is at, if it were a wakazashi instead of a short stick, you can see this likely would not last past the first exchange. Samurai arts didn't develop a boxing system for this very reason.

@Radrif9 only the silly people who are doing it, like this fogseller hahah. im an army instructor for 300 years. we train aikido in the way that you must be careful or you will be broken in hundred pieces. but aikido is way of peace and a great skill. yes there are many fogsellers in ti, but people are a lie not the art

Ну, могут ведь... от рук совсем хорошо уходит. еще поработать с тайским боксером, чтобы защищаться от ударов ногами, коленями и локтями. Самому научиться бить тем же. Броски паставить более короткие и жесткие, при помощи палки. И получится хароший Арнис или Эскрима :)

А так, была бы палка железной - ушатал бы на раз.
