  • Why do American's sound weird ass in British shows and British people sound normal, but in American shows Americans are the ones who sound normal and we British sound like gong shows?

How does that happen? XD Why is it that people who aren't native to the show's country of origin sound ridiculous!?!

  • Does anyone know, what the song Matt has on the phone ?

  • @SinataSeries It's cuz in our shows, there'll be more british speaking people so american accent sticks out of that as unusual. switch it the other way around, and our people sound weird given the majority of the people sound american. it's a relative thing I suppose :)

  • I love the theme song but i don't know where to find it. Neither here, in youtube. Help!!

  • Fran from Black Books!

  • this whole thing is as bad as Matt la blanc........scrap it...

  • A brilliant show.

  • haha lol matt leblanc no answer...lets try lining abit through the phone.

I think it's a couple of things. First is just the sound. The speech of 'the other' can sound unfamiliar, weird, and annoying to the listener. Secondly there's a cultural difference in approach to comedic acting styles where the British instinct is to repress, internalise, be uncertain and naturalistic. Whereas the American style is about showmanship, being extrovert using lots of hand gestures, and more an exaggerated stage performer or stand up delivering gags.

  • The woman that is speaking in the "weird" American accent is in fact American. It's Kathleen Perkins, who was born in Michigan...

  • Sorry guys but this horrible actress sounds weird even for Americans... Valley girl.
