Jabari Parker - Chicago's Next Chosen One - 2010 Freshman Highlights - Simeon 2013

Jabari Parker is Chicago's next great superstar, that could not be more clear. The kid's resume is absolutely unbelievable- it's almost impossible to find a flaw. Genes- check; his father is former NBA star Sonny Parker. Size- check; he's 6'6, still growing, and can play all 5 positions. Skills- check; he was one of the stars of a Simeon team that won the Illinois class 4A state title. Intangibles- check; he's a brilliant, caring and thoughtful leader. Oh yeah- did I mention that he is the first freshman to play varsity at Simeon in decades? Yes, that means Derrick Rose played a year of fro/soph ball before making it to the big show. In a world full of burn outs and hyped up kids with 'upside potential,' Jabari is about as much of a sure thing as you will find- even if he stays at his current size (doubtful- he just turned 15 this month) and doesn't get more athletic, his basketball IQ alone is enough to make him a high major player, and his values and leadership make him an invaluable asset to any basketball program or community. You don't have to take my word for it though, take the word of the division one basketball coaches who offered him scholarships before he even turned 15; Baylor, BYU, DePaul, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Northwestern, Nevada, Oregon State, Pittsburg, Providence, and Washington... believe me now? I think he knows Parker would be a star anywhere. ILLINOIS has known he would be a star for years and he would be a legend in his home state. He could bring the illini our first championship and sounds like an excellent young man to boot.
