Hillary Supporters for John McCain

Citizens for McCain, a group of former Hillary Clinton supporters who now back John McCain, gave a press conference at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN. Many supporters switched allegiance because of a perceived lack of response from the Democratic Party on the sexism in the media towards Clinton during the election cycle. One such supporter, Jennifer Lee of California, had an interesting moment when asked why she now supported McCain.

This makes no sense at all. Even if you put aside the fact that HILLARY HERSELF NOW BACKS OBAMA, Look at any congressional scorecard of ANY organization. Obama and Clinton are almost always voting together and both voting the opposite of McCain. If you supported Hillary during the primary it makes no sense to turn around and vote McCain when he holds the opposite stance on every major issue while Obama shares Hillary's stance about 95% of the time. Absolutely bizarre!

Most racism is unconscious, people don't say I fear Obama because he is black. The basis for deciding is often unconscious. Tom Bradley Effect -- middle of road black mayor of LA running for CA governor, far ahead in polls taken days before the election, lost the election -- people just wouldn't vote for a black man, so now there is academic doctrine of the Bradley Effect. People(the non-rich, or pro-choice rich women)will vote for someone who will make their life much worse.
