This is inspired by Confused Matthew's review of Season 7 of DS9.

I agree that towards the end of DS9, they started to incorporate too many fantasy elements to the show. When Dukat started speaking incantation and then was possessed by demons, I felt from that moment they went too far in the show.

If they must have Dukat be possessed by aliens (although that's a bad idea, Sisko is the emissary of the prophets but never was possessed by the prophets and so Dukat the emissary of the pah-wraith shouldn't need to be possess either. He should have worked for the pah-wraith as a mortal) At the very least they should have given an attempted technobabble/quasi-scientific explanation why this statue can make Dukat be possessed by the Pah-Wraith.

The thing about Star Trek is that there's no such thing as magic, just knowledge of the universe we haven't discover yet. You can't have magical activities without explanations in a Trek show.

I also think it would have been interesting if they continued giving Dukat the madman angle.

  • I personally thought ds9 season seven overall had some good parts to it but still it wasn't perfect. Especially with that they did to dukat.

  • Yeah I like DS9 and every season of that show (it's probably my favorite TV show). However it does have weaknesses. I think the saving grace of season 7 (as well as season 1) was despite some uninspiring plots choices, the characters are still great characters and are still likeable. This makes you overlook the silly plots of some episodes.

  • "A self-deluded madman." Hasn't Gul Dukat always been that way?

  • I think the characters in DS9 are much more interesting than the TOS and NG ones. But then I found it hard to stand all the Temple and prophet and wraith stuff... and Winn needed to die long before the show ended.

  • No offence, but I think the whole scene is one the most unintentionaly funny moments of star trek history.

  • And Jadzia would still be alive ='[

  • the magic wormhole people were ridiculous to begin with

  • DS9 and Enterprise are opposites.

Enterprise was a terrible show with a surprisingly great final season.

DS9 was a great show with an absolutely awful final season.

  • @merdufer Every time he died they just made another one!

  • I like.
