It was time to pull some shelf queens down and give them some cleanin, oilin and runnin. First up is a Joy line freight outfit from the early-mid 30's. Joy Line was made by the Girard Model Works and sold exclusively by Marx. Marx later bought Girard. Next up is a red litho frame lighted passenger outfit from 1938. Next is a Canadian Pacific Passenger set from 1938. The CP passenger cars came with 8 different names, but a set only had five coaches. Here you see all the cars except Quebec. Do you have a spare Quebec in your collection? Last up is a red litho frame freight set up. The red litho frames were only made in 1938. Enjoy the oldies.

  • what year was that joy line from thats looks to be a very old set thay look tall on the track i bet it dosent take much to derail on of then around the curves very nice and the marx trains may lack detail but very well built motors that and the very low cost to buy them new is what kept them around as long as thay were even today if you pay $150 for a complete set thats alot you can pick up a realy nice marx set for well under $100 but your getting a well made set

Joy line was made from 1927-1934. The ones in this video would have been from the later part of that time frame.

  • Nice to see the Joy Line electric in action and I really like the Prewar CP set..

  • Thanks

Surprising how nicely the Joy Line still runs. I have since this video added the CP Quebec coach so I now have all eight names.

  • Un encomio alla cultura di chi' ha saputo conservare, funzionanti anche negli splendidi accessiri, questo capitolo di Storia del modellismo. *****

  • Vi ringraziamo per le gentili parole

I sure hope I got close with the translation.

  • Great oldies. Marx may have been cheap, but they were well built!

This is where that MRC Dual Power comes in handy. Makes running these older guys a little easier at low speeds. Gotta get me another one soon.

  • Thanks John

  • I like the way the action builds as more an more trains are running. I also was impressed by the slow-speed operation of that Joy Line loco. Thanks Steve.
