An information video showing the steps we took to prep the Say Me Human Hair weave for an upcoming sew-in weave install. This video was made during the Naturale Pearl Protective Style Challenge in 2011.

Bleach Baths are used to reduce tangling, matting or revive old weaves. If done correctly, you will notice less tangling, matting and the hair may look more natural with a silky finish. It is recommended that a bleach bath is performed on all hair purchased from a Beauty Supply Store (BSS).

You Will Need:

Large sink with access to hot water.
At least 2 gallons of hot tap water.
2 oz. of bleach (We used a generic Dollar Tree brand).
2 oz. of regular household ammonia.
Wide tooth comb or brush (Vent Brush).
Gloves
Face Mask to protect yourself from any fumes

  • ok what were the results?????

  • @ktb727 I did not notice a significant amount of tangling with that brand of hair however, it did shed pretty bad over the weeks that followed.

  • Wht type of bleach ?

  • @sgihair In my personal opinion it does not matter. In this video, I used Dollar Tree Brand bleach, however some ladies have used Clorox and other brands.

  • i would suggest shampooing the hair btwn the bleach dip and the ammonia dip. Its much safer than just a rinse with plain water

  • @Chantsway Thats a great tip!
