(It helps to think of this as a screensaver...) A rough draft of a demo we put together at Ardor Labs for a exhibition piece being done by a group over in Europe next month. The basic idea was to show a diverse number of planets and have them kind of "evolve" into view over time. We used Ardor3D's procedural texture generation and threw in a little bloom, etc. (Please forgive the programmer color choices... :)

  • Nice work on combining your engineering and artistic abilities. Where you able to render this in real-time using the Ardor3D engine?

  • Yeah, and at very high framerate.  The only hiccup was generating the planet's layers of texturing, so we ended up moving that to it's own thread during the previous planet's display.
