@LuminousGuy It was written by Ron Grainer, and first arranged by Delia Derbyshire of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. This version was arranged by Peter Howell. :)

If i recall correctly it was a woman from the BBC music department who wrote this. Can`t remember her name. Wonderful piece of music :)

Oh fuck this brings back memories! Surely the greatest Doctor Who theme of all time. Far superior to the crapy theme's they used on the reboot. Bring this back! It needs the chuging of the guitar and synthesiser!

EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

80s spin on it, synthisizer!!

One of the BEST theme songs for a television series of all time. No joke.

The Doctor Who theme tune from 1963 sounds better. I had to adjust my computer speaker volume because of the intro beaming sound. This show has been on for a long time.

I never got into Doctor Who until 2005 with the new series however in 2007 I went back and watched a lot of the classic series. Although Derbyshire's version is great, this one just pips it for me, it sounds so alien & out there & 30 years on (yes it's 30 years old this year!) it still sounds fantastic, oh how I wish they would use it these days.

it was such a cool show.

Oh no, surely not 'massively' downhill? Some of the Series 4 ones, maybe, but the others, Series 3 in particular, no way. Its still going well!
Dr. Who was and still is a great Sci-Fi show. I always loved the theme it helped pull you into the show.
