Carlos Maria Guichandut (1914-1990) is regarded amongst the ultimate performers of the title-role of Otello, the jealousy-stricken Moorish general in the Verdian opera. For some, he even surpassed Del Monaco and Vinay. (As a young man, he sang the baritone role of Iago to Del Monaco's Otello in Buenos Aires: there's a rare live-recording to be found elsewhere on YouTube) His recordings are unfortunately scant (among them Jason, opposite Callas' first-ever Medea in Rome), so I've posted one of the very few available.

En verdad es una de las arias más bellas que he oído. Y la letra, es todavía más hermosa. Una verdadera celebración del verdadero y puro amor.
