A nice example! Stainless steel roof, suicide rear doors with super slim post between front and rear doors. This gave Lincoln and Imperial something to shoot for...it set a new standard in luxurious, expensive top end cars!

  • I always loved old Caddys, I never hated the '50's Caddys, maybe I'm a Chromehead, I don't know, but they never get old for me

  • @frankisfunny2007 Hey, Nigel! Yeah..I especially loved the 48 fastback style..and of course it was updated with the ohv V8 in 49. Long live the fin! Thanks! :) Jack

  • These could be the best looking of all Cadillacs I think, Jack, that said though, the entire '55-'58 generation could be the best looking Cadillacs ever built :)

  • @drewerz01 Hey, Mike! Yeah, the proportions of the car look great..and I have to say, that stainless roof is the crowning touch, along with the suicide rear doors! Thanks! :) Jack

  • I think they wer over $13,000 new up here when they came out when other car were in the $250- $5,000 range Very expensive for it's day.

  • @monarch1957 Wow! That sure is expensive...so much rivalry among the big 3 as to how exclusive their top end cars could be. I think they got in over their heads..the Continental Mark II despite its high price cost more to produce than it sold for..they lost money on each car. But what the heck..it was a competition! Thanks! :) Jack

  • @IluvSixtiesPontiacs Hey, Dave! Thanks for an idea of the exclusivity and expense of this car! Lincoln Continental Mark II back in 56-57 was selling for about $10,000

I believe, and it cost Ford considerably more to make them. It was really a war to see who could manufacture the most luxurious vehicle! Tri-power would be another ingredient in "can you top this?" Those were the days! Thanks! :) Jack

  • @MrLambFries Hey, Brian! I don't know if this one had that set, but I remember a similar car at Old Town that had that set on display! I bet they are worth a lot of money! Thanks! :) Jack

  • This is one of my favorite cars of all time. I wonder if this one still has the original liquor glass set and ladies perfume it came with new. Those items alone are rare and worth a bunch today.
