Ode to the classic fairytale, Catherine Deneuve stars as princess whose father, the King
asks for her hand in marriage. After promising his wife he would only marry a woman more beautiful
then her.

  • The best song in the movie by far. I guess I'm a traitor, but deep down I always preferred this movie to "Umbrellas of Cherbourg."

  • Umbrellas is beautifully filmed, are i'm sure which one i best though.

The Youngs girls of Rochefort also good

francoise and Catherine are so adoreable.

  • I'm always sad when I think of Francoise. Poor thing, she died far, far too young. I love all three movies though.

  • I know i just love her ..... hence my icon lol.

    Do you speak French?

    I don't not cultured enough i guess :)

  • talk about gluttony cough cough ze prince

  • @MissLizaMay Don't fret, you're no traitor! I too prefer this film to Umbrellas - which I find somewhat overrated; heck, I'm hardpressed to remember ANY of the songs from it. Now, Demy's lesser praised Young Girls of Rochefort on the other hand is an absolute whimsical delight and my favourite Demy by far. :)

  • Lol usually fairy princesses like her are real annoying, but Catherine is so sweet!

  • LOL! I don't speak French either. I was actually a German major, if you can believe it. But the French cinema, especially from the 60s has always had a special place in my heart. And let's face it, Catherine Deneuve is the Queen!
