DIY Brushless motor from recycled computer parts.
My aim is a completely DIY brushless hubmotor for electric assist on bicycles based on recycled parts.
This is prototype 2. Prototype 1 was just a quick lashup and 3 will be full scale testing.

  • why don't you just buy some neodymium magnets. I was just on amazon today and they had a several sets of various sizes for good prices.

  • Because the whole idea is to recycle old computerparts into something useful. The magnets are in fact neodymes from old harddrives while the coils are wound from wire out of the transformers.

  • This video SUCKS, what did you use to capture and convert it? It is a cool idea and nice project, but the presentation sucks.

  • Yeah, the quality sucks. I was just sitting by the kitchen table and the only thing I had handy was the phonecam. It was never meant as a presentation, just wanted to throw it out there.

  • That would be so cool if I could do that. Currently though, I'm raking together all the harddrivemagnets I can find while pondering some way of making the rotor.

  • When will you be making a whole bicyle design and can you make one for a bicycle that can go 60 mph or faster without having to spend more than $500

    and without huge bulky batteries that have to be charged every 30 miles for 4 to 6 hrs,thanks.
