Henry Mirarra has gained a strong reputation for fine instruments over the past 18 months. Based at Matamata outstation, he has honed his skills as a yirdaki craftsman living in the bush and has also gained knowledge and ability through his mother's Galpu clan.

This yirdaki attests to Mirarra's tree selection capability as well as his crafting expertise... he has found a superb piece of wood to start with, and has trimmed it to just the right length. The mouthpiece is the perfect size and shape. The bore is almost totally natural, with a little bit of scrapping at the bell end.

Mirarra's father is Peter Datjing, a well-known artist and identity at Elcho Island. Mirarra is married to Larry Winiwini's sister.

Larry plays Mutjalandjal - Dolphin - in this clip. The 3 long overtone notes is characteristic of this song subject.
