STOCKHOLM: The Swedish parliament on Thursday recognised the massacres of Armenians during World War I as genocide, immediately sparking a diplomatic row with Turkey.

Its resolution, which the government had opposed, "signifies that Sweden recognises the 1915 genocide of Armenians" and other ethnic groups during the breakup of the Ottoman Empire. up to 1.5 million of their kin were killed during World War I by their Ottoman rulers in a planned campaign of extermination as the empire was falling apart, a stance that is supported by several other countries.

  • The word genocide is a very serious offense which is not to be decided on by some ignorant, alchoholic and drug addict parliamentarians. It is the duty of the historians to deeply debate this issue.

To me sweden, like other western countries, has decided to pursue a christian crusader ideology to realize its long-run imperialistic aims on my country. However, it is doomed to fail sooner or later with an unforgettable disgrace.

  • @ThePowerforward what do u mean no one blamis moder Turkey..you might not but there are people that do, plus I never said there were no Massacres Theyre were massacres almost everywhere in ww1 esspecially in Anatolia..but to call them Armenian Genocide or any other for is just being ignorant and one sided...sorry to say.because there were massacres on all sides..

  • @Anatolian90

If you read what i wrote, i include all the Christians populations that were slaughtered not just Armenians.

Unless you think that these slaughters did not take place either.

No one blames modern Republic of Turkey but it is a fact that during the last days of Ottoman empire these tragic moments happened.

Some Turks intellectuals and professors have started recognizing these facts.
