Depression has reached epidemic proportions in the United States and across nearly all industrialized nations. With 15% of all depressed individuals surrendering to suicide every year, and a lack of coordinated treatments, it is time to step up to the plate against this menacing illness.

Visit: http://chrissovey.blogspot.com to learn more about depression and how you can help yourself or others who are depressed.

Please feel free to share your stories and struggles with the world by e-mailing: chrissovey@gmail.com. I will post them here and on the blog, ANONYMOUSLY of course.

  • I personally wouldn't recommend drugs unless as a last resort, or even a therapist. At the end of the day, it is you who is going to change yourself. Obviously different things work for different people but I would recommend looking into philosophy, spirituality or science. Widen your knowledge of different perspectives on life. Meditate on new ideas, and your own feelings. Get some exercise. Eat well. Find a problem to solve, big or small. The world really is your oyster ;) With love, Smiff.

  • @innersmiff -Smiff, great advice.

  • I have depression, I want people to understand it's not out fault. I don;t want to feel this way. I have tried suicide twice and been hospitalized recently for 3 weeks. Idk if it helped me at all. The thoughts of hurting myself are always there. I don't want to give up, life is worth living. But some days things seem so dark it consumes you and thats when you cant help but think maybe death would be easier. My advice is get help, it may be hard and a long journey. It has to get better.

  • @HarlD25 - Great advice, HarlD25

  • @monkey298 - This video is about raising depression awareness. This video is aimed at those who are not aware of depression. I understand your frustration, if you are expecting something else. However, I have spoke all over the Michigan area, showing this video to raise awareness. It has been well received, and raised a lot of discussion, which I set out to do. I hope to make a video like you mentioned in the future. Peace be with you.

  • Song title?

  • i WAS happy before i watched this video.... this video made me depressed lol seriously this isn't making anybody any happier. Epic Fail to you Sovchr instead of making of a video of depressing facts any depressed person could just google why not instead make a video that MAKES depressed people happy again? It will be a daunting challenge but if you suceed you will help make the world a better place. It is said everyman has atleast one 1million dollar oppurtunity in his life... this is yours.

  • @SSgtCaps important. Too many people joke around about it. Although the experience was terrible, I'm glad I went through it. It has taught me a valuable life lesson that I will be happy to help others learn.
