@WillGotti since mma is a snactioned sport now,im talking about the sanctioned rules.In 1993,headbutting,kicking and kneeing downed fighters ,striking the spine and back of the head was all legal and bareknuckle too.This was nhb/vale tudo.There was no mma or vale tudo/nhb in america when these video fights took place because they were all in the 80s and very early 90s.I was actually competing in kickboxing in england at the time as a teenager.

@WillGotti in fact the UFC wasnt mma in 93 ,it was nhb/vale tudo rules,mma as we know it only began with the introduction of the current gloves and rules in the late 90s.Outside of brazil there was no MMA type matches until shooto started in japan in 1989(wasn tnhb rules eithe).Pankration goes back over 2000 yrs but hasnt been practised since then until the gracies started again in the 1920s.The guys in this vid werent mma or nhb fighters,theyre kickboxers.

@scarred10 Yes there was. MMA is old as dirt going back centuries. The MMA that all the young guys know about, UFC, started in 1993. I know that for a fact because my parents ordered the first ever UFC pay per view for me back in 1993. I know some of these guys were fighting still back then.
