inferno of joy

LittleBook recently sat down with Sean Heskett over some psychedelic herbal tea, to crack open our chakras and probe deeper into what it means to be Inferno of Joy.

LB: What's your most memorable moment as a band?

SH: When you actually become "possessed" during a show, you really don't get to remember much.

LB: Any pre/post show; food, indulgence, ritual, etc.?

SH: 7 Eleven nachos; all gooey, and warm... lots of jalapenos, and I must have a Coke. It makes me very happy. We're always asking for directions to 7 Eleven on tour.

LB: I love, Fast up the Fun, Pretty Girl and Suicide Bombers. Where did you record it and how can I get a copy?

SH: We recorded at Crib Nebula Studios in San Francisco with one of the greatest recording engineers ever, Lemon DeGeorge. You can get it on our MySpace, or at Street Light Records, Amoeba, or CD Baby.com

LB: Inferno of Joy is hot stuff in the Bay Area, What's next?

SH: We think everyone should get a taste of the Voodoo... To spread the word we'll be recording a full length record and continue to tour the south West and West Coast.

The Hooks

When the Hooks aren't busy backing up Shane MacGowan or The Popes on whirlwind tours, you'll find them rocking out on the roof of a Haight st. apartment, hanging out with Punk Legends like Mick Jones and Paul Simonen of the Clash or busy recording their new record @ Hyde st. Studios. The yet untitled CD should be available soon, check for it on iTunes or CDbaby.com. I'm sure you'll hear some of their new songs along with your old favorites at their upcoming show at Thee Parkside. Check out their tune Get Out on Myspace and then Get Out to the show!!

Triple Cobra

if you haven't seen Triple Cobra, stuff this back in your pocket, get out from under that boulder and head down to the Bottom of the Hill July 12th for one of the craziest rock shows you'll ever experience, period. Triple Cobra rocks harder than you and looks better than you while they do it. But they want you to "get off" too, so apply some extra mascara, shred and tear up your cloths, spike up your hair and get on out there.

Chubby Chubbies

Since the tragic death of their lead singer Brandon Selph the remaining Chubbies have been carrying on with instrumental sets of youthful and inspiring punk metal. Check out their tunes Cellularmalfunctions and Heelaplastik on Myspace, and if you really dig em and think you have the voice, maybe you could be their new singer. The band has been working on a CD of new tunes and is performing in Oakland and San Jose this month, before setting out on a DIY west coast tour with good friends Dr. Kill Em All. "It's been a hassle and a half trying to set up this tour due to the fact that we have no label or booking agent to help us out. D.I.Y. or die!" (Joey) That's the spirit!! Go check out some real deal, DIY rock attack!!

FRANKENSTEIN l.i.v.s.

Looking good and feeling good, these boys with their skinny ties and bloodshot eyes, are on the prowl just lookin out for those good times. Check out their tunes Black Ball Ship and War on Myspace, and you'll catch on to their rough and rowdy sound. Whether you catch them at a house party or at their upcoming Knockout show, you're assured a rocking good time, especially if you BYOB.

Bite

Born from their love of the San Francisco rock scene this little engine that could is gonna keep on keepin on cuz they live and love the Rock N Roll life. With recent tours to Seattle and Portland under their belts this Punk and Roll Rollercoaster Ride is out to grab you and keep you movin. Check out their songs New Rose and Super Sonic Hotrod on Myspace, and head out to their upcoming show @ Annie's Social Club, and show them some love.

The Bruises
Acoustic or "plugged in" Illinois transplants, Jenni and Aja, are making their dreams and yours a reality. Check out some of their songs like Distraction, Hott Damn and Distance Makes the Heart Bleed, on their Myspace then go get their new album Connected, and prime yourself for their sweet sounds. Then decide which sultry summer show you'll sweat along with them at. The Unplugged show at Dolores park sounds like a pretty good time to me! North West Tour planned for August 08. So get out of the house and go check out a show, myspace.com/thebruises thebruises.com
