Katrina Second Line

Jazz funeral style parade for the victims of Katrina. Thanksgiving weekend 2005. The crowd of "second liners" grows as the parade winds its way through the quarter, ending in a concert at the river.

The film crew is with Spike Lee and was used in his movie

This is the first second line after Katrina. You'll find a lot of videos touting the Jan. 2006 second line as the first. My friends, this as a good two months earlier and as a participant, I can tell you it was OFF THE HOOK. That's me in the yellow shirt and long hair at :28. :) Thank you Black Men of Distinction!

That's an interesting and unusual way to have a mass funeral. But, when you think about it a little, I guess a New Orleans jazz parade is kind of a nice send off and rememberance, eh? That's the way I'd like to be sent off! :)
