Jazz funeral style parade for the victims of Katrina. Thanksgiving weekend 2005. The crowd of "second liners" grows as the parade winds its way through the quarter, ending in a concert at the river.

The film crew is with Spike Lee and was used in his movie

  • This is the first second line after Katrina. You'll find a lot of videos touting the Jan. 2006 second line as the first. My friends, this as a good two months earlier and as a participant, I can tell you it was OFF THE HOOK. That's me in the yellow shirt and long hair at :28. :) Thank you Black Men of Distinction!

  • That's an interesting and unusual way to have a mass funeral. But, when you think about it a little, I guess a New Orleans jazz parade is kind of a nice send off and rememberance, eh? That's the way I'd like to be sent off! :)
