@JK220553 i got a book by oak publications called guitar pieces john renbourn. it has most of the medieval elizabethan pieces here. pub c 1972. got picture of john on the front playing a 335 style epiphone guitar. oak were with pentangle music ltd. hope this helps?
I´m still a friend of the Al Steart songs, especially "Palace of Versailles". Looking/hearing around where the beautiful intro comes from, a friend of mine started playing "The Earl of Salisbury". Well, I guess he´s right. (Listen to 0:10 - 0:18 and then to Al Stewarts "Palace of Versailles")
Thanks so much to Guitar Workshop for putting this up! Tons of great stuff to get cracking with on John's "Celtic Melodies and Open Tunings", which I just bought from them.
@JK220553 From what I got from his discussion in the dvd, the tunes are his own arrangements (someone correct me if this is wrong). There is probably sheet music for the melodies available but these arrangements are his - he specifically talks about this music being virgin territory for guitarists.
Does anyone know where the sheetmusic for this piece is published? I mean the specific arrangement that John Renbourn was using, with fingering marked etc.
Lovely stuff - John walked into my local guitar shop in Wrexham,UK last week and I was 'doodling' on an electric guitar there at the time.I was too 'starstruck' to introduce myself but I played him a little bit of clawhammer on an old Windsor banjo which he subsequently bought. Please apologise to him for me Stefan ,I did realise I was in the company of one of my heroes but I was too awestruck at the time.
Keep up the good work with the instructional dvds.
