Just a clarification -- I don't claim to know exactly why McCartney wrote it -- though wiki says it was in response to the American civil rights movement in the 60s -- but he wrote it in 1968, more than a decade after the Little Rock Nine incident. So I don't know that it's origin was tied directly to LIttle Rock.

It's written for Little Rock Nine. He said this at his concert 9 december in Holland.
