You cannot be a proper industrial fan until you have visited the King of Industrial Railways, the Foxfield, on their annual steam gala. The Line puts up an impressive line-up of Industrial locomotives, with at least one guest. This year was no different, with the line-up being:
Ex Backworth Colliery RSH 0-6-0ST no. 47 (works number 7849) 'Moorbarrow' (visiting from the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway)
Hunslet 'Austerity' 0-6-0ST no. 7 (works number 3839) 'Wimblebury' (Painted by Steam Railway Magazine)
RSH 0-6-0T no. 7684 'Meaford no. 2' (has the tractive effort of a Black 5)
W.G Bagnall 0-6-0ST no. 2: Florence (fitted with Giesel Ejector) (not in this part)
Beyer Peackock 0-4-0ST no 1827 (Last gala before overhaul) (not in this part)
Haydock Foundry 0-6-0WT no. C 'Bellerophon' (The oldest locomotive on the railway) (not in this part)
In this, the second of 5 parts, we Moorbarrow and Wimblebury organising various trucks into various sidings ready for their turn to blast up the infamous foxfield incline, then see Meaford No. 2 cautiously bringing in the trucks from the previous charge up the bank (see part 1), with both saddle tanks blowing off as she enters what will eventually become a platform for passengers.
I honestly cannot think of any other railway where locomotives have worked so hard. Hands on heart, I can safely say this was the best event I have ever visited on a preserved railway. Also, I had the pleasure of meeting Kenneth Baker, better known as Youtuber 'Pennysteam'. Look out for his videos
Nice shot of my back at 1:06 - looks like I got in your shot!
