This is a detailed instructional video on how to make an insulated outdoor cat house out of a beverage cooler. You can make this cat shelter in under 5 minutes with the right tools. This is great for outdoor feral cats for the winter time during freezing temperatures

This is wonderful! Thanks! I'd just like to add that for the kind people who feed and love the ferals, another important thing you can do for them is to get them spayed and neutered, so they don't make more homeless kitties. Your local cat rescue organization can help trap them, and often they can connect you with a low cost vet for the operations. Spaying and neutering can cost a lot, but sometimes you can get it done very cheaply, about $15, if you connect with a rescue group.

This video is fantastic! I'd begun worrying about two little strays in my neighborhood who hung out to be fed, but didn't want to become anyone's pets. I bought a cooler, cut the door with repeated passes of a utility knife and added a flap door made from a blanket. Nothing quite as cute as two kittens emerging from their "trailer" to join the more rugged members of their community in the urban jungle.

Thank you sir, for the perfect idea, I will try to do it, because all the time I feed some stray cat, but they are to shy to come near to human and in winter time I am all the time thinking about them where they are...

Spaying and neutering cats can prevent them from spraying if they are young. And shanesmommee, your cats are suffering from stress from your new puppy. Feliway could also help with the stress. And I love this idea for a shelter. Will be doing this.

There is a product on Amazon called kitty tube which is just a fancy version of this very item. It's just a plastic insulated cat structure with a bed for $110 dollars. You can make this, which is almost the same thing, for half the price. Thanks for the idea.

You probably know someone who has these tools, you can borrow the tools, or bring the cooler over and have them make the hole. It's so easy. I'm going to do this and put a heating pad from Pet Smart on the bottom to use for an outdoor cat.
