No disrespect to Whitney Houston but I like this version better.

@jeijeich You are so naive and ignorant!! So sorry to say this, but it is NOT called screaming my dear. It is called hitting high notes. When you have high notes it shows how passionate and honest you are about the song. Do you know bollywood songs like ''Pyar ke liye char pal kam nahi the'', ''Aao naa'' , these are my favorites. It seems Dolly is also influenced by these songs.. so without being agitated anymore please listen to your ''copied'' version of bollywood romantic songs. :-)

@Dipa48724 Despite education in music, I never pretend I know music. Actually I know nothing about screaming female voices in a love song except I shall not listen to them. In a divorce song maybe. Also I don't know money is a measure of a song, an art or an artist. Danny Boy never made a penny but it is my favourite song. Now I add this Dolly Parton's song to my list. Why don't you collect your screaming female albums while allow me listen to Dolly Parton's version without being disturbed.

@roadkil2 ... actually before that. For Porter Wagoner when she moved on to become a single act.
-
@roadkil2 - actually, according to the wikipedia page, "the singer wrote the song for her one-time partner and mentor Porter Wagoner, from whom she was professionally splitting at the time." This was June 1973.

too much make up on her face, wonder how she looks naturally?

@blakesterm15 you forgot about dolly using for cosmetic surgery, lip enhancement, breast implant.. hehe and who knows may be drugs too :)

actually Whitney only made it popular in the 90's, while dolly composed and made it popular in the 70's. hell dolly still has all the rights and will use her profit in a philanthropic manner, rather than drugs:)
