I had no idea he was living here in Atlanta (my city) and that he died Monday. I always assumed he was in total retirement in Italy. I saw him many times when the met used to come on tour. An enchanting gentleman- always so friendly with fans and of course is interpretations will live forever. Thanks dear coloratura fan for this tribute- Ernesto
@meltzerboy Siepi had been very fortunate in the sense that his career took off at a time when Pinza just left the operatic scene and a new generation of audience was emerging after WWII. Moreover, the advancement of recording technology into the age of the long playing 331/2 records allowed all virtually complete appreciations of Siepi in his famous roles, His Decca recordings of Figaro and Don Giovanni have never been out of the catalogue ever since their first publication.
The world will always remember Siepi's artistry. 6:18-8:25 is simply glorious. I salute your perfection, maestro, and may you rest in peace.

I am always amazed by his incredibly natural elegance. My favourite bass of all time. Goodbye, Lord French "R"
