Spending freeze more talk than action

US President Barack Obama plans to announce a three-year freeze on discretionary, non-security spending. This is an attempt to quash criticism about high spending amid soaring deficits - but the freeze would not apply to defense or foreign aid or spending on intelligence, homeland security or veterans. Without these departments, the freeze amounts to about a sixth of the entire budget.

dont they have it backwards? instead of cutting the big chuck of the budget which is military, cia, and giving money to other countries, instead they cut the small part of the budget which is programs which help american citizens.

The trouble is Obama has taken Bush Spending and put it on steroids along with loads of new anti business regulations.

The sad thing is the uncertainty about healthcare, card check, cap and trade, higher taxes and loads more regulation is stiffeling any job creation in the private sector. His new fees on big banks not just the ones who got tarp. Those fees will cause good banks to charge higher interest or give out less money to sm business. I think he will keep going for the spread the wealth and hinder our free market system which has made us the strongest and best Country in the World.

There are over 8000 federal aid to states programs with over 88,000 state and local entities getting money for special programs. If you read where that money goes you would be floored. 1/2 could easily be cut and if they were actually needed churchs and local charities or private industry would pick them up.
