@danpavan - True that film could be the best way to preserve this but biggles said it was scanned at 2K resolution which would be 2048x1556 and not 1080p. The Datacine would make great 12bit log files that would be used in digital workstations for further restoration.

I also have a client that I'll be transferring some old 1920's nitrate! Good to see that you've been able to do it with the Datacine. I'll also be using our Datacine. Hmm, I'll be sure to have a fire extinguisher ready! (As long as the film is still dry and not 'gelled' I'll be sure to run it non-stop through the gate)

You shouldn't just digitize, but pass it to a modern safe film. 1080p is not as good as a film!

It may not be as good as film but the nitrate element is being stored in a superb archive and, despite the warping, is in excellent condition. One day a new film master will be made! The results of this telecine can be viewed by searching for "The Soviet Influence: From Turksib to Nightmail". Out now on bluray and DVD!
