I just had to respond to see if I could help. Coconut oil will harden at any temperature below 76 degrees. It really hardens ALOT. Keep using the oil just dont use it when its extremely cold outside. Hope this helps

I live in NJ, every winter this happens to me. No big deal. It doesn't hurt your hair, it's still good for your hair and scalp. No need to wash it out. Lol! Your hair does look great.

Those who are saying coconut oil must be washed out are WRONG. While coconut oil makes a fantastic addition to a conditoning regimen it is also a great moisturizer. There are tons of vids on yt demonstrating using coconut oil as part of moisturizing & sealing. A little goes a long way.
